Hero Needs Help

A Nevada hero needs your help! Let’s help out Mike Withycombe, who was injured while stopping the kidnap and rape of a 16-year-old girl by a large, 30-plus-year-old stalker. On April 16, 2017 (Easter Sunday), his neighbor’s daughter was walking back from a local Walgreen’s. This innocent little girl caught the eye of a larger, much older black male, who followed her back to her apartment. He hung out around her apartment for hours, and was asked to leave time and again—once by the police (he had warrants, yet he was not arrested). That night, he lurked in the shadows. At around 1 A.M., Mike, who lived upstairs, heard this man trying to break into her apartment. Mike went downstairs and confronted the man. The man turned and attacked Mike, and a vicious fight ensued. Although Mike fought back and eventually rendered the predator unconscious, Mike sustained multiple debilitating injuries: blows to the head (obviously suffering a severe concussion), a twisted knee, contusions, lacerations and abrasions. He hasn’t been able to work since.

Surely you can appreciate the risks that Mike took on this occasion. But if guys like Mike don’t stop predators like these, next time, it could be your daughter or granddaughter. In addition, does anyone remember Trayvon Martin and how that case was twisted by the media? Travyon Martin was made to look like a saint, and Obama even called him his surrogate son. Why didn’t Mike’s story receive more media attention? After the fight, when the police arrived, Mike, who was covered in his own blood, was only asked by the cops why the perp was bleeding! They never asked about Mike’s condition. And while the perp was wheeled off on a gurney to receive free medical care at the hospital, Mike didn’t receive treatment because he can’t afford Obamacare, so he pays an annual fine to the government. Situations like these should have nothing to do with race (but unfortunately, we all know better.)

Since this 52-year old’s return from work for the U.S. Government as a contractor in war-torn Iraq, Mike has only been able to find menial work. He is a regular working guy like the rest of us. He is scraping by, paycheck to paycheck. He hasn’t been able to work for two weeks, due to his injuries. He needs to pay his bills; if we don’t help, he will soon be facing eviction.

Mike was injured while doing the right thing. Let’s all do the right thing by helping him pay his bills while he recovers.
