Female hygiene packs for rural Nepal
Donation protected
Namaste,
The Marigold Chain is a UK charity supporting 11 villages in Lwang Ghalel in rural Nepal. We are currently fundraising to make and distribute female hygiene packs to girls and women in this area.
The villagers in rural Nepal are often unable to buy personal hygiene items for their periods. Girls have to stay at home and miss school and women have no choice but to use inappropriate items as period products like rags or weaved grass.
Working with locally qualified tailors, we are making packs that are reusable, made with high quality cotton and designed to last 3 - 5 years. Next month Helen from the Marigold Chain plans to travel to Lwang Ghalel, Nepal to distribute these packs.
Each pack includes 2 shields, 8 liners, pants, a cotton storage bag and brightly coloured ziplock bag. Helen will visit five village schools and with the help of local health workers, teach the girls and women how to use the kits.
Each pack costs £8.50 and we hope to distribute 500 packs.
Helen's trip is funded privately and every penny we raise will go towards the purchase of these kits.
We ran a similar project in 2018. It was a brilliant trip. We will post some photos in the updates so you can have an idea what's ahead.
Thank you for reading so far, if you would like to make a donation we would be very grateful.
Thank you,
Rachel and Helen xx
