PyCon Africa financial assistance budget
Donation protected
The very first PyCon Africa takes place 6th-10th August, in Accra, Ghana. This will be a seminal event in the history of Python in Africa.
Through ticket sales and sponsorship we have covered the basic costs of the conference, but we haven't yet raised enough income to cover the full cost of our financial assistance programme.
Financial support is essential to the event, as many of our speakers and attendees will be travelling from other African countries, and without assistance from us they simply will not be able to make it.
At this stage, every additional cent we are able to raise will go directly towards financial assistance. It's important for the conference to have these attendees, not just as speakers, but also as community organisers and builders in their own countries, who will go on to set up their own events and groups.
Thanks to the help received from donors who responded to this appeal, we have so far purchased and allocated tickets for travel for attendees travelling from:
* Nairobi, Kenya
* Harare, Zimbabwe
* Lusaka, Zambia
* Windhoek, Namibia
* Johannesburg, South Africa
* Gaborone, Botswana
* Entebbe, Uganda
* Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
* Yaoundé, Cameroon
The conference is still open to formal sponsorship , which we welcome warmly, but through this campaign we also hope to raise smaller amounts from well-wishers in the Python community.
Thank you for your support.
