Emergency Lifesaving Surgery for Jackie Boo Boo

Hello family and friends.
Our fur baby girl Jackie became incredibly sick Friday evening and me and my wife (Jackie’s mama) had to rush Jackie to the vet hospital. Jackie is 8 years 9 months chocolate Labrador Retriever and German shorthair pointer mix, but she pretty much thinks she’s a human. She’s a very smart girl and definitely has a funny character! We love her very much!
Our little girl spent almost 24 hours in the vet hospital. She had an x-ray, an ultrasound, also she had multiple blood panels and other tests she was not tolerant to the anaesthesia at first, but it worked out with professional vet team in the vet hospital and they could make an x-ray. Her fever was higher then normal. Her WBCs were high as well as Neutrophils, Monocytes and MPV. Platelets and Plateletcrit were low. Our baby girl had an infection they haven’t pinned down at first, but x-ray and ultrasound showed she had Pyometra. It’s Infection in her uterus. It was filling up with liquid if we would have waited much longer it would’ve burst and we would’ve lost her.
Doctor rushed her to the surgery room. The surgery was performed by Dr. Jared Sekar. We are very thankful to him! The recovery is going slow but promising. Jackie was getting different IV and different antibiotics and steroids when she was in the vet hospital. Now she’s getting pain medication and two antibiotics. Jackie is low energy, she sleeps a lot, but she was able to eat a little bit, her appetite is not great, but she eats and drinks water and we’re very grateful!
Jackie will have to go the vet clinic for a few additional visits. It’s the follow ups after her surgery. It looks like she’s not so tolerant to the antibiotics Enrofloxacin and Clavamox. So she may need an additional antibiotic prescription and because she’s not eating well, she may need a special diet of canine food which must be prescribed by the doctor. So our journey is not over yet.
It is inconvenient and awkward to have to discuss financials with family members and friends, because we never did it before, but when it comes to the survival of our baby girl it is worth 100%, so that’s where we are. The original bill was $7686.90 with the surgery included. But because we took Jackie home earlier the total bill now $6391.44 Jackie needs our help, friends. She is our little fighter! If you can help in any way, it would be so appreciated!
