My brother, Kerry, has been in the hospital since the beginning of November. He burned his foot and developed an infection which turned into sepsis. Sepsis is no joke. It’s the body’s extreme response to an infection and is a life-threatening medical emergency. When he went into surgery for the first time, the doctor said three things: He could come out of this fine, loose a leg, or not survive. Thankfully, he made it through the procedure but the upcoming weeks became increasingly difficult resulting in a multitude of additional diagnoses.
He’s been on dialysis for issues with his kidneys, had an infection in his Gallbladder, stomach bleed, small blood clot in his lungs, among other things. Not a fun time. As of a couple of days ago, he was finally moved to a regular bed from ICU and we are hoping that he will be able to be discharged from the hospital before Christmas.
My sister in law is working with a lawyer now to see if they can get him on workers comp but they aren’t sure when it will go into effect and it only pays 2/3 of your weekly salary. We know that he will need rehabilitation for up to a year following that.
Anything that you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.
Much love and appreciation.
