Support Mike After Ron’s Tragic Loss

On December 6, 2024, Michael Kukahiwa-Haruno tragically lost his partner of 9 years, Ronald Cox. Mike and Ron were scheduled to get married on January 3, 2026, before Ron's untimely passing. Because Mike and Ron were not afforded the time to plan their marriage and establish end-of-life planning, Mike is unfortunately left with the burden of paying the mortgage on his own for the beautiful home they purchased together in Kapolei, HI. Mike, who works a full-time job in the public schools, already has to supplement his income by working during the evenings and weekends to afford a shared home in Hawaii. As one can imagine, this is a heavy burden to carry while trying to grieve the loss of his partner and dealing with the trauma of the nature of Ron's death.

Those who know Mike and Ron know that they are two of the most generous and caring people, who were fortunate to have found each other. They were the perfect pair and balanced each other out so well. Mike and Ron's home was the place of many gatherings, and they loved hosting others. Now Mike has to face the uncertainty of affording his home after losing Ron's financial support. Mike, who is known to brighten up the room, is left without his solid foundation to carry him through this storm.
