Lilly's Memorial

My name is Richard. My spouse and I are retirees in our 70s with Social Security as our source of income. We have been caring for our dearly loved elderly dog, Lilly, who we rescued in 2017. Lilly is 18 years old and in rapidly failing health. She has been diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease (enlarged heart and fluid in her lungs), as well as constant pain from arthritis. She is at the stage where she refuses her medication and food (even her most loved treats).

We have accrued a current veterinarian Care Credit charge card and Visa charge card cost of $1,349 for examinations, blood labs, x-rays, doctor visits and multiple medications. We have been paying this total down from its original $2,308. We are also looking at an increase of $400 in interest charges to Care Credit if not paid in full by June 1, 2023. The bulk of these veterinarian charges were under the Care Credit promotional, short-term, interest-free program that we have been making monthly payments toward. We are also, now looking at an additional $525 in euthanasia and cremation expenses. Our total need to pay Lilly's current end-of-life costs is $2,275. As retirees with no savings remaining, we need help in paying this expense.

To make this even worse we were just notified three days ago of my spouse's youngest brother's passing.

We have never asked anyone for assistance during our lifetimes and are hoping that some of you might be kind enough to help us during what has been an emotionally devastating period in our lives. We are on the verge of losing our beloved pup, on top of which is grieving the loss of her youngest brother. Our income from Social Security gives us no emergency funds to meet these needs.
