Tammy's Medical Journey

Hi, my name is Jeannine and I am a customer of Tammy's but more importantly, a friend. Tammy is a 5-year survivor of mouth cancer and unfortunately, she has symptoms now from the cancer and all of the radiation. After lots of trials and experimental medical procedures, she now has to undergo a major surgery because her jaw is dead. The surgery is scheduled for October 2nd and will be 2 1/2 hours from her home and will encompass 15-20 hours with a team of 4 surgeons. The first surgeon will cut out the dead portion of the jaw to get clean margins, they will then make a titanium bar to hold the jaw in place and take a portion of her shoulder blade, nerves and muscles and connect to her jaw and then she will get dental implants. The surgery is 15-20 hours with a team of 4 surgeons. Tammy will ultimately have a tracheotomy and a feeding tube. She will be in ICU for several days to monitor blood flow and will be hospitalized for more than 14 days.

As you can imagine, this is intense and very scary. Because of her healing process, her jewelry business will be down for a long period of time. Paparazzi is her income. Additionally, her family will be travelling to the hospital during her journey and hotels, accommodations, and food will be a financial challenge.
