SOS (Save Our School)
Virtual Telethon November 14 and 15, 6:00 pm
Dear Friends,
The bold words at the top of the letter head are very ominous. It is a universal call for Help! SOS! And that is precisely what this invitation is all about. It is an invitation to Save Our School (SOS) with the help of a virtual telethon on November 14 and 15.
As you can imagine, with low weekly income from the Sunday collection down about 40%, the economy being what it is, the loss of revenue from the festival is enormous for our budget projections. We estimate that we have lost $25,000 to $30,000 profit just from the festival which has normally gone to the support of our school. As you also know, the very successful June Fiesta was also cancelled. So between these events and other scheduled fundraisers, we have never been so financially hit. We have lost over $100,000 to $140,000 not counting the lack of Sunday attendance.
I am writing this letter to you in hopes that you will participate in a “virtual” fundraiser telethon.
I have invited the comedian Rudy Moreno and his comedian friends to give a personal comedy show that will be live streamed to your family. These men have appeared on many tv shows and concerts. They are doing this as a favor to our school. We also have the renown Mariachi Voz de America, our own Ballet Folklorico Resurreccion and more guest surprises.
The date for the virtual show will be on Saturday and Sunday, November 14 and 15, at 6:00 p.m. To see the show livestreamed, you can look at our website: resurrectionla.com or our Facebook page “Resurrection Catholic Church”.
Any donation will help save our school which is in distress because of the pandemic.
Thanks for caring,
Msgr. John Moretta
