Tiffany’s Breast Cancer Battle

Tiffany is not only my big sister, she is a wife, a daughter, a devoted mother of two and an extremely hard worker, having spent the past 20 years climbing the ladder in the police force.

In November 2021 after finding a lump in one of her breasts Tiffany was given the devastating diagnosis of stage 2 breast cancer and was told the cancer had spread to nearby lymph nodes. This came as a complete shock to family, friends and those who are closest to her, as we all awaited news of a prognosis and exactly what lay ahead.

After a painful biopsy, scans and other tests Tiffany was informed that thankfully the cancer did not appear to have spread to any organs or bones but she would require surgery to remove the cancerous tumors from her breast (mastectomy) and the removal of nearby lymph nodes (in total doctors removed 23!)

Tiffany underwent successful surgery in December 2021 and is currently at home recovering. However, Tiffany’s fight does not stop here. Tiffany will now undergo five months of chemotherapy, followed by 5 weeks of radiation treatment to ensure the cancer has well and truly pissed off! After that she will have more surgery in order to reconstruct the breast. While it is still a long and scary road ahead, Tiffany is one of the strongest people I know and has put on such a brave face so far.

The purpose of this fundraiser is to assist Tiffany with the cost of her treatment and further surgery. While Medicare/health insurance cover some expenses Tiffany will still be out of pocket a substantial amount. Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) states the typical out of pocket expense after a breast cancer diagnosis is $5000!

Any contribution big or small would be greatly appreciated so Tiffany doesn’t have the added stress of worrying about the financial burden of this terrible disease and can focus all of her energy on beating it, while spending happy times with her family.
