Help Cathleen kick cancer’s ass

Some of you know, and many do not… Cathleen has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I know, WHAT??? She has always been health conscience and exercises daily, so this diagnosis was out of the blue… She has been undergoing chemo treatments for the last year and has maintained the will to fight (she is a tad on the stubborn side). Unfortunately, this chemo had no promising effect on the disease, and now her only option is an allogeneic stem cell transplant (this donation is from another best-matching person), which will be happening in the coming few weeks. This process requires close medical supervision and is a lengthy process all in all. The recovery is estimated to be at least six months and up to a year, which will disallow Cathleen to return to work soon. She is pretty determined to regain her strength back to 100%, and this will be a slow process, but we all know that she can and will do it!

We know we are in for a long fight. Cathleen, her family, and friends are confident she can overcome this disease, but a task of this magnitude cannot be done alone. Anyone who knows her should know she would never outright ask for help, and we are anticipating an extended recovery period after the stem cell transplant. Cathleen will be unable to do her compassionate work as a Physical Therapist Assistant (her patients will undoubtedly miss her!). Still, she will have to rent an apartment near the hospital for three months, employ a 24-hour caregiver for the entire time, and still be responsible for the mortgage and bills, not to mention some medical costs that are not covered by insurance. With that in mind, her family and friends decided to start a GoFundMe to help alleviate the financial burden she is already experiencing. By reducing some of her economic stress, Cathleen can focus all her energy on fighting and recovering from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
