Adrian’s Recovery Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Friends and Family,

Adrian Yarbough developed sudden onset severe neurological symptoms on the night of our 8th anniversary. He contracted a bacteria called shiga toxin- producing e. coli. The bacteria gave him a neurological infection that affected his brain and nervous system with neurotoxins, which is very rare for that type of bacteria to do.

Adrian is still bedridden/housebound and unable to work. Talking and walking is also difficult for him at times due to pushing through the neurological symptoms. It's been a rocky recovery. As of recently, Adrian is still experiencing debilitating neurological symptoms related to his vestibular system and proprioception due to the toxin going into his cerebellum.

The doctors think his recovery time will be about one year. He has had some improvements and thankfully his cognitive ability (critical thinking ie: ability to have conversations) has stayed intact. But we are still not sure about the full affects of the damage to his nervous system. He is doing physical therapy and seeing many specialists to confirm we are on the right road to recovery.

In the midst of this challenging journey, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been supporting us. Your love, encouragement, and understanding mean the world to us. And every video sent made Adrian smile.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated towards our groceries and diagnostic medical expenses after seeing the original post. It has really been helping get us through. And thank you to our family who has been helping with rent and living expenses.

We are still in need of support, especially considering my own neurological dynamic disability (CCI and dysautonomia) that make it hard to drive and take care of myself and Adrian while working.  We have set up a donation page for those who want to help with Adrian's ongoing weekly rehabilitation therapy costs and caregiver expenses. Every little bit helps us, and we appreciate your generosity.
Unfortunately, Adrian does not have long term care and is not currently receiving disability benefits. Also, If you know of any organization/church that might be able to help offset some of the cost, please let them/us know.

Thank you all for being there for us during this difficult time. Your support has given us strength. Please message me with any questions.

*I lost my ability to walk 4 times in 2021. Adrian would wheelchair me to the park as I gained strength to walk again. He would stand behind me and cheer, “you can do it love” “you are so strong!” I knew I could get through anything if he was with me. He has been my champion and he still is.

Thank You,

Erica Yarbough
