Blessings Everyone!
We are growing, we are Growing, we are GROWING!
cannot believe it is already been 6 months since May 8, 2021 reintroducing multi-colored cotton plants to South Floridians!
We've popped-up at the Swap Shop to Coral Springs (Juneteenth event) and now the Farmers Markets on Saturdays (in Plantation), Sundays (in Tamarac) and Tuesdays (in Pompano) with sooo much more to come!
Beyond humble, beyond grateful for your encouragement and passion to seek (even dare) to learn more .
Eye walked in Faith and eye Trusted my Father who introduced me to a cotton plant he brought from Kingstree, South Carolina when eye was 5yrs old. Kingstree is where my Ancestors were enslaved and where many of my family members still live to this day. When my Father brought home this cotton plant he changed the game (especially when he told me to "know my history".)
And then meeting all of you beautiful people has validated this mission so overwhelmingly.
The people have spoken and they are Ready! - like wow . This is revolutionizing multicolored raw cotton fibers on another level.
Thank you all for being so open and joining me on this deep, yet liberating cotton journey towards freedom, history, the future, autonomy and the avalanche of unknown blessings to come.
Geeked & Grateful.
Check this out though -
There is a Will - and so of course there is a way. with your help it shall be done!
Eye have been super blessed and lucky to meet Zia Rayner an extremely genius (harpist) at the opening of Art Exhibition - The Color Of Money: Confederate Currency showing at the African-American Research Library Cultural Center until January.
Zia has blessed me with a few lessons in spinning wool on her spinning wheel (a skill she has mastered, as well as her very young daughters. She's even been so kind as to lend me an antique spinning wheel from the 1800's to showcase at the farmers markets.
And now it's time to put in the real work.
DGP Cotton-Talk's objective is to bring the cotton back without slavery and reintroduce multicolored cotton plants to "black" and "white" Americans in efforts to heal the psychological trauma done through the exploitation of cotton in the USA and abroad.
And that's exactly what we intend to do.
*US Money is made of 75% cotton & 25% linen.
That said, we are raising $1,500 cotton dollars for several important educational tools to further this hands-on experience, but with your help.
Here's what you are donating to specifically:
Spinning Wheel* $800
Book Charkra* (Mahatma Gandhi model) $600
Cotton Cards* $100
Thank you for your kindnesses and for taking the time to read and share and donate what you can.
Sincerely,
Deaon
