Support George's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
On Monday, November 4th Colleen and Ian received the worst new any parent could hear. They learned that their sweet, spunky 2-year-old boy, George is very sick. He has cancer.
They brought him in for a doctor’s appointment that morning after feeling a hard spot on his stomach. They assumed that their cheese obsessed boy must have a blockage or some other simple explanation. They could never imagine the x-rays and CT scans would show a tumor, believed to be a cancerous Wilms tumor, on George’s right kidney. They were admitted to Children’s Mercy later that night and things began moving quickly.
On Wednesday November 6th, he underwent surgery. This is what Colleen posted on Facebook the day after his surgery. “After a more than 4 hour surgery yesterday, George’s tumor and right kidney were removed and his port line needed for when he starts receiving chemo was put in. The tumor was thankfully still encapsulated, but unfortunately the tip of it ruptured during the surgery due to its significant size. Therefore, his “best case scenario” for surgery wasn’t able to occur, but overall it was still a success.
Today has been spent primarily focusing on much-needed pain management and rest as he begins his recovery journey.
The amount of love and support we have received during this difficult time has been absolutely incredible and beyond anything we could have imagined. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has reached out, prayed, or supported us in any way.
Please continue to pray for George as he recovers from his surgery, as well as the pathology results we are currently waiting on that will determine the extent of his treatments.”
As of right now they are still waiting on pathology to come back with the results. We are hopeful that George will be discharged early this week so he can get back to the comfort of his home and back with his 2 brothers who miss him terribly! With radiation and chemotherapy treatment ahead, please consider donating.
Donations will be used to cover medical bills, living expenses, lost wages and expenses associated with George’s care.
Colleen needs to be by George’s side as much as possible and her family relies on her income alone. Please help them focus on the care of their child and not think about the financial burden.
Above all else, please pray for George’s health and that he handles his treatments well. We know that George is going to kick cancers butt. We appreciate your love, your support and your help.
