Eldred Quam

Eldred passed away on July 9, 2020. His unexpected death was a shock.

Eldred Quam, “Nagoosh” “Nugs” was an inspirational, noble and wise member of our Zuni community. Anybody who knew Eldred Quam would tell you he was a guy that would put a smile on your face and give you words of encouragement. Eldred was a caring, loving and providing husband to his wife for more than 35 years. Mr. Quam provided by any means for his family, whom he loved dearly. He was always willing to help any person no matter who it was; a stranger or a guy on the streets that needed help, he would offer to help in any way he could. His wife  fondly recalls memories of him making jokes, just to make her laugh. 

Mr. Quam was a member of the Zuni Cultural Resource Advisory Team (ZCRAT).He helped the team work with scholars, federal agencies, organizations, and park services that needed guidance & advice from Zuni leaders. These work opportunities started and strengthened many friendships. He was a respected kiva leader, a kind friend to all who knew him. He was a talented fetish carver.

He was a kiva brother and a great friend to my father. He assisted my father in numerous ways that I am abundantly grateful. He was a humble clan brother.  Because of that, I am hoping we can assist Marilyn in the tragic loss of her husband. As with all self-employed artists who are facing hardships during this pandemic, Marilyn would greatly benefit from what you can contribute during this difficult time.
