My name is Abi, I'm sure that many of the people visiting this page will know me personally, with that in mind you hopefully understand that we wouldnt have set up this page if we didnt genuniely need some help.
I have Ehlers Danlos, a rare genertic disorder that affects collegen synthesis, as collegen is present in pretty much every body tissue pretty much everything can be effected. Its been a bit of a rubish year, but I'm always on the go trying to make stuff better for other people, i think its very important not to sit back and accept that things are going to be rubbish.
On the 3rd of Septmeber this year I started getting a pulsey type symptom in me left eye. This isnt a twitch, its not comparable, everytime my heart beats a whole patch of my visual field moves, its constant, i cant even put into words how irritating it is nd completely impossible to ignore. After many CT scans, MRIs, MRAs, appointments at Reading and Oxford hospitals they have decided that my left epiretinal membrane has something grown over it, this may or may not be causing the symptoms, but they cant find snything else that might be.
My GP has been very supportive but ultimately cant help. The are a few hospitals that are able to operate as early as next week, but we only have £2000 to put towards the surgery, and that is from savings that had been to go towards my registration fee when i qualify next summer.
We feel forced to raise money to fund the syrgery ourselves, as there is at least a 12 week wait until Reading can see me again, and oxford say the chances ofthem operating to fix it are slim to none.
I'm finding this really hard to deal with because i really dont like to be asking for money or help, i know everyone is struggling, I just cant bare this pulsing, its literally doing my head in.
If you can help in anyway it will significantly increase the speed at which i can get the surgery and hopefully get back to my normal proactive (slightly less grumpy) self!
Much love to you all xx
