Rene Zuniga's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hello friends, family and supporting donors,
Rene is a co-worker and hard-working individual who has been with our company for 11 years. Rene always went above and beyond his duties. He was always there, willing to give everyone a helping hand. Rene lives 10 blocks from his job and rides a bike to work.
One day he started noticing his hands and legs were going numb and he started to feel dizzy all the time. Despite this, he never missed a single day of work or called in sick. He was there every day until one day he could not get out of bed. He was rushed to the hospital and was told he needed spinal surgery.
Rene had Cervical Decompression and Fusion Surgery on August 20, 2020. Before the surgery, doctors assured Rene it would take about two month to recover, but that was not the case. Rene has had a very painful and slow recovery. He has found himself facing this alone. Rene has never been married and has no family or children. His only family members are us, his co-workers.
Everyone at work has helped him as much as possible. The wonderful ladies that he works with have been helping him to bathe, shop for his groceries, and clean his room, which he rents. Rene can hardly move.
When Rene found out his recovery was not going to take 2 months, he applied for disability, but this can take up to 120 days to be approved. This is why we decided to open a Recovery Fund. Rene has absolutely no income, and no family to help him. He needs to pay his rent until his disability benefits are approved. This is very hard for someone that has been working his whole life and was always active.
I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who contributes to this fund. It’s very hard to see how a person’s life can change in the blink of an eye…
