In need of Help for Emergency Housing Costs

Hello friends and family,

This is an update to my situation that I explained previously which can be found below. Things were looking ok for a while and while i was still struggling financially, I had hopes of getting on top of everything in the coming months. I am now being faced with having to leave where i am living as soon as possible (i was told by the end of the month would be ideal but that gives me 9 days).

I am really just looking for any help whatsoever to be able to secure somewhere to live and try to figure out how to pay down my debts so that i will be able to continue to afford my rent. It is going to be very hard for me to find somewhere that will take me due to the consumer proposal that i have ongoing right now and also debt-to-income ratio.

Even if you are unable to help financially, if you could share with others that would still help me. I am doing what i can right now by reaching out to different resources for assistance.

I am hoping to get back money from tax returns once I receive my t4 and file. This should be able to help me somewhat depending if I get anything back. But I am being asked to leave by next week and I am trying to negotiate more time.

I hope this message finds you well. I know that asking for help like this might seem unconventional and perhaps even tacky, but I'm at a point where I have no other options and need to reach out.

My Story:

Since having my son, my life has taken some unexpected and challenging turns. I was previously employed as a city bus driver, making a good living and on top of my financial responsibilities. However, after having my son, I experienced numerous health issues and, upon returning to work, faced immense stress with little support.

Due to missing work because of documented medical issues(and very thorough due to the company policies on sick leave), I was placed on a last chance agreement and ultimately had to resign. Last September, I separated from my son's father, which, while a relief from a stressful situation, has brought new challenges.

I am currently working full-time for another transit company, but with a significant pay cut of over $14 an hour. To make ends meet, I also do Uber Eats and Instacart deliveries in my spare time. Additionally, I run my own business that I am struggling to get off the ground and am an independent consultant for another business. Despite all these efforts, I am struggling to pay rent and meet other financial responsibilities.

Current Challenges:

- **Financial Strain**: Despite working multiple jobs, I am struggling to cover rent and other basic needs.

- **Consumer Proposal**: I recently filed for a consumer proposal to manage my debt, which has severely impacted my credit score.

- **Childcare**: My current job’s shift makes it difficult to work with my sons daycare hours, and I can't afford additional daycare beyond what he already attends during the day. I have requested accommodations but it is to be understood that it can not be a long term thing. I have had difficulty finding any other job that will pay the same or more and with hours that will work.

- **Education**: I am exploring the possibility of returning to school to complete a business degree, but funding is a significant challenge. This would open up doors for me career wise and also help me to better understand the logistics of running my business.

- **ADHD Assessment**: I believe I may have ADHD, which would explain many of the struggles I’ve faced, but the assessment is not covered by OHIP or insurance, and I can't afford it.

Why I Need Help:

I am asking for any support you can offer to help us through this difficult period. Your assistance will go towards basic needs like rent, childcare, and furthering my education to secure a better future for my son and me. This is highly embarrassing for me to ask, but at this point, I have nothing else to lose and only want to create a better life for my son.

Faith and Strength:

Throughout these struggles, my faith has been my anchor. We attend church every Sunday, and I truly believe that God has a greater purpose for my life beyond these current hardships. It is through His strength that I continue to carry on despite these challenges. I hold onto the belief that God’s plan for me includes a brighter future, and it is this faith that keeps me moving forward.
