The Mullins Family: Twins in the NICU
Donation protected
Our best friends, Jon & Whitney Mullins, recently gave birth to their twin babies 8 weeks early. The week leading up to their emergency birth, Whitney was in and out of the emergency room and admitted 3/4 times.
On Tuesday Jan. 16th, Whit was rushed to the hospital again with bad swelling, vomiting, headaches, and nose bleeds. Her blood pressure was 190/105 and her medical team determined this was preeclampsia and Whit’s risk of stroke was severe enough they did an emergency c-section. Baby Olivia (4lbs. 9oz.) and Baby Theo (3 lbs. 15 oz.) were rushed to the NICU due to low/no respiratory drive, and Whit has been monitored closely.
Jon and Whitney were told that with Whitney’s complications, Whit would have a 6 week recovery with about a week or so in the hospital.
It is undetermined when the babies will get to come home, but Jon & Whit were told to expect them to stay in the NICU for up to 7 weeks. Jon, Whitney, and Charlotte will drive to Nashville everyday and visit the babies.
As the medical bills continue to become monstrous, Jon and Whitney have also not been able to run their businesses for a few weeks and will need to continue to concentrate on their family until they are all in good health. As this is their primary source of income, the looming financial strain is overwhelming.
We’re hoping this GoFundMe can ease the financial burden this beautiful and loving family has on their plates, and hopefully it would allow more time to focus on healing and growing as a family of 5. with twin newborns and a 15 month old.
