Medical expenses

Hi, our names are Mary and Alan and we are Fundraising for our friends Chuck and Susan Wall, who are very dear friends of ours. They were both born and raised in Johnston County North Carolina They have been happily married for 32 years. In all of those years they have endured many trials as we all have. However, in the last few months Chuck was diagnosed with Throat Cancer. Chuck has been enduring treatments that consist of 1 day a week for Chemotherapy and 5 days a week of radiation treatment. This treatment has been incredibly painful and has racked his body with severe side effects that are vicious. Included in the side effects are mucositis- an extremely dry mouth 24/7, a severely blistered tongue and a raw throat from Radiation. Because of the Radiation, Chuck has lost the ability to taste food, a metallic taste in his mouth and also has made swallowing food very difficult. Chuck has lost 18 pounds in the last 1.5 months, but continues trying to drink Nutritional shakes to survive.

Chuck has his own Lawn Care which is very slow this time of year, but given his physical condition, he is unable to take on any new clients, nor keep up with those he already has. The Social Security benefit they receive only goes so far in terms of paying for food. gas, propane, transportation, house payments, electric/phone bills. Chuck has to travel to the duke Raleigh campus 5 days a week for treatment, as well as provide food for his wife Susan. It will probably take Chuck several weeks if not months to come close to healing and getting back up on his feet. Throughtout this trratment Chuck has lost at least 20 pounds.

Any money raised will be used to help them cover transportation, food and their monthly living expenses.
