My Dad's House Fire in Dixmont, Maine
Donation protected
My dad, Richard Offinger, and his wife, Lezel's home in Dixmont, Maine sadly burned to the ground this past Friday night, June 10, 2022. Luckily my dad and Lezel were not home, but their sweet, beautiful Siberian Husky, Hachi, perished in the fire. The home is a complete loss with nothing salvageable.
For now, my dad and Lezel will stay at the family cottage in Cooper, Maine. They are lucky to have this small place of retreat which my great-grandfather built in the 1800's. That being said, money for clothes and food and other necessities until a new home can be built would be extremely helpful.
As you may or may not know, while insurance should cover 100% of the dwelling rebuild, it doesn't guarantee coverage for all contents that were inside the home. Some things will only be partially covered; others not at all. And, in the meantime, my dad has to pay for most things up front and wait to be reimbursed.
With that being said, any amount you can donate - even $5 - would be greatly appreciated. If you would prefer not to donate through GFM, you may Venmo me @Carrie-Denn and I will get the money to my dad. Please just put in the notations "for house fire" along with your full name. We are unable to accept clothing or household donations at this time as the cottage is about 8+ hours away from me and my dad and Lezel do not currently have a post office address (and there is no mail delivery at the cottage). The best thing we can do for them at this time is send money to them electronically.
Again, I thank you for anything you can do, including your prayers and well-wishes.
