Atlas Mountains Earthquake Appeal
Donation protected
Myself and my good friend Sam Pierce will be travelling to Morocco on Feb 5th to participate in an Ultra Mountain Bike Race called the Atlas Mountains Race. It's 1400 kms long on rough gravel roads through the Atlas Mountains. It is unsupported and one of the toughest such races in the world. There are 250 competitors. We start in Marrakech and finish in Essaouira. Traditionally only 50% of the participants finish as it's pretty tough race. We have 8 days to complete it or we will not be considered finishers! I will be one of the eldest competitors. Sam is a bit more youthful!
Check out a short trailer here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XblP7FcWA6k .
In September of 2023 a massive earthquake struck the region killing over 1000 people and making many more homeless. The race was going to be cancelled but the local communities encouraged it to go ahead. By raising funds for the Unicef Moroccan Appeal https://www.unicef.org/emergencies/earthquake-morocco
we will be doing our small part to help these communities that we are so privileged to be travelling through. Your involvement will also be a huge encouragement for us to continue pedalling when our legs and heart will be screaming to stop! We will be contributing 50 cents for every kilometre completed. Hopefully $700. Thank you for taking the time to read and donate. You can follow our progress from February 9th on the following links. Philip; https://amr24.maprogress.com/?bib=307B
