Medical bills and expenses

On Wednesday, August 2, 2023 Cayla’s life was changed drastically. She was making her way to work at NHC Pulaski, TN when she was involved in a motor vehicle accident where a semi truck t-boned her driver side, at a high rate of speed. Cayla was said to have no pulse when first responders arrived on scene. Not only were several men on scene, one happened to be her loving significant other, Jacob Smith. Jacob Smith is a member of the Ethridge Fire Department. First responders worked with Cayla and were able to get her stable enough to be air lifted to Huntsville, AL. After an hour and half of being considered a “Jane Doe” Cayla was able to be identified and test began to see the extent of her injuries. It was said that Cayla has severe brain swelling, a brain injury, broken neck, a fractured skull in multiple places, a broken jaw, bruised ribs and a cut on her liver. Cayla had a tube placed in her head for the pressure to hopefully be released. The skull fractures are very close to her optic and hearing nerves. At this time they are unsure if these have been damaged. Cayla is currently in ICU at Huntsville hospital and is on a ventilator as she can’t breathe properly on her own. We ask that you please send prayers for Cayla and her family. Her mother, father and loving significant other are staying at the hospital to be there for the very short visitations and to get updates on her condition. Any and all monies collected will go straight towards bills as we all know medical bills are not cheap, along with normal bills still rolling in. Cayla will be out of work for some time along with Jacob. This will be a long road ahead but we believe she is a fighter and can pull out of this! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
