Raising funds for cctv that covers Gallagher Park

Gallagher Park is a 64 acre facility right in the middle of town, a facility for the people of Bedlington to be proud of. In 2022, the Friends of Gallagher Park (FOGP) had cctv installed, giving 24/7/365 monitoring of the park. This is for the protection of park users and assets. The cameras have been hugely successful in catching those involved in anti social behaviour, whether it be drug dealing, violence or vehicle crime. There has been no vile graffiti or damage to the play park since they were installed and parents report that they feel safer in allowing their kids to play there.

The cameras are close to £4,000/ per year to rent, backed up with live monitoring and regular mobile patrols. Other cost are the groups insurance and small lottery license.

Without funding we would be unable to afford the security and the cameras would have to be removed, increasing the risk of ASB within the park returning.
