Danny Collins

*Update* - Thank you so much to everyone who donated. We are immensely grateful and so pleased that your contributions were able to help cover the costs of Danny's funeral. We have decided to close the fundraiser, but celebrations of Danny's life do not finish here; There will be a memorial service in Manchester on the 13th of September, please contact lauren@invisible-cities.org for more information.
Danny Collins couldn't walk through Manchester City Centre without stopping for a chat. For those who knew Danny, they will remember him for his gift of the gab. A man with many tall tales, all remarkable yet absurd in equal parts. We are so grateful to have had such a special character in our lives, so we have made this page to ensure that he can have the send-off that he deserves.
Over the years, thousands of people walked through the streets of Manchester with Danny. He shared with them his story of homelessness, powerful poetry and cheeky charm. He always used to say, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but this old dog can.” And he wasn’t wrong, but what this statement doesn’t emphasize is how much Danny taught the people around him. If you ever had the chance to go on one of his tours, read his poetry or meet him over the years, this fundraiser is the opportunity to give back for what Danny gave to us.
Cheers, Dan the Man!
Sadly with Danny’s passing being so unexpected, his family and loved ones are struggling to afford the funeral. We have created this page to raise money to pay for the service and support them as they cope with their loss.
