Marian Lippman's Medical Expenses

On August 18, my mom, Marian Lippman, had a stroke caused by a blood clot in her basilar artery. After taking an ambulance to Good Shepard Hospital, she took Flight for Life to Lutheran General Hospital where she had an emergency procedure to remove the clot. Luckily, the procedure went successfully.

Afterwards, the doctors told us only 10% of people survive this type of stroke. But my mom isn’t ordinary. She is 55 years old and has battled MS for over 30 years, all the while doing everything she could to put me and my sister, Amanda, first—no matter what. Now she needs our help.

After recovering at the hospital, her doctors let us know that she will require 24-hour caregiving. This is not covered by insurance, and they are unaware as to how long she will need it for. My sister and I have watched her improving, and know that she will overcome this, but at 24 and 26 years old, neither of us have the means to financially support her like we wish we could.

Every prayer or positive thought makes a difference and means so much to her. I’ve seen her cry with gratitude at every card, flower bouquet, get well balloon because it really does make her feel better. Every share on social media, every new person who sends her a positive thought—it matters. So please help us by spreading this as far as we can.

We know she will persevere and get back to a normal life. She is such a bright light in so many lives and has her whole life ahead of her. Our hope is that she can focus on healing, without weighing every decision against the financial repercussions.
