Dimitri Obolensky's Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Dimitri spent his early years growing up in Upper Northwest, Washington, D.C. As a young adult, he travelled by himself, across the United States and Europe. Upon settling down in Maryland, he took a job as a landscaper where he worked for 20+ years.
Upon finding out that he had Liver Cancer, he was forced to retire and focus on fighting the disease. Though he was fortunate enough to receive a small stipend from Social Security, he was incredulously denied Medicaid.
In fighting this tragic disease, his wife of 21+ years will be left with insurmountable, unpaid medicals expenses and sadly, upcoming funeral and burial arrangements. Please help us raise as much funding, as we can, to defray the continued, daily, increasing costs and to help his wife manage through the difficult road ahead.
Unfortunately, Dimitri fell ill while visiting the west coast. His wife immediately went to be by his side. We will need to get them both home to Maryland. We have learned that his Cancer has metastasized to his brain. His tumors are inoperable and after 2 days of radiation he has become unresponsive. He is hanging on for now.
Dimitri is the best of the best. He has been there for anyone who needed him and no matter what circumstances he came across, he remains upbeat, positive and jovial. He always saw the sunny side of the life. The good that he saw in the world came from inside his soul and spread out to all of the lives that he touched. Dimitri is the most giving, unselfish person that I have had the pleasure and honor knowing.
Everyone has been touched by the ever-intrusive grip of this horrible disease to some degree. As it takes a village to raise a child, it will take a village to face the challenges of the next steps in this journey.
Dimitri and his family can use any and all support as they embark on this long, difficult journey. Donations will afford Dimitri the best possible medical treatment, as well as relief in the stress of all expenses that come with it. All donations received go directly toward Dimitri’s care and supportive network.
Please help if you can. All prayers are needed and very much appreciated. Thank you and God bless.
