This Gofundme site has been set up to solicit donations to assist with the travel and training expenses as Joel pursues his dream of qualifying for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team in the sport of wrestling.
Joel's story:
Hi, my name is Joel Webster. My passion for the sport of wrestling started over 20 years ago. Wrestling has been a huge part of my life ever since and led me on an incredible journey which included wrestling in college at Edinboro University, coaching at the US Coast Guard Academy, and also meeting my wife!
Two years ago I was training at the Ohio Regional Training Center en route to compete at the U.S. Open in Las Vegas. During our last scheduled practice, four days before my flight was booked, my knee blew out. Suddenly my dream of competing was taken away and I was left with a hard decision. After meeting with the doctor I realized I had a long road to recovery. I was told I needed 10 operations in 4 surgeries to reconstruct my body. The decision was easy: I wanted to wrestle!I had both knees and both hips operated on in 7 months, plus countless hours of rehab and strengthening to repair my body back to competition shape to continue my dream.
After paying medical and rehab expenses my funds for my competion have become low. Also, I'm expecting twins which are still in my beautiful wife's belly. This has made it impossible to support my dream on my own. I am asking for donations to help support my training and travel to keep my journey going!
