"Do you know what your Myers-Briggs personality type is?"
If you have known me for longer than a minute, you will know that this question often leaks its way in most conversations with me. My passion for the Myers-Briggs personality assessment has only increased in the last 17 years. I find ways of utilizing this when teaching spiritual formation courses, training student leaders, working with staff and faculty and pastors, in spiritual direction sessions, with couples, with strangers in bars, and even on dates. It has been a way to help people understand what motivates them, how they see the world, what brings them energy and life, what gifts they bring to a relationship or team or organization or staff, and how to better understand themselves in order to understand those that they love and work with and live with. (Can you tell I am a passionate ENFP?)
For the past 17 years I have used my self-taught study of the MBTI in training sessions, college courses, conferences, retreats, spiritual direction sessions, and many other venues. I have never charged nor been paid for this, as I am not an official Certified Practitioner. Yet, I am continually amazed at the power of how what little I know has been used to give hope, generate energy, and provide foundation for growth in people, couples, and groups.
I have always wanted to become a Certified Practitioner, and I know it will strengthen my calling and work in this world. I have an opprtunity in the beginning of May (5-8) to attend the four-day conference, training, and testing in order to be certified. It is a costly training ($1695 plus post-training materials and MBTI Step I and Step II instrument purchases).
