Help Lynn Fight Breast Cancer

A few days after Christmas, Lynn should have been heading into the New Year with a feeling of freshness, happiness, and that giddy feeling you get every time the new year rolls around. Instead she was given a breast cancer diagnosis that changed the trajectory of her 2022.

Anyone who knows Lynn already knows what an endlessly giving & caring person she is. Her husband Joe and her three kids are her #1 priority before anything else- Family is the most important thing for her. Her cats come in at a VERY close second. This includes all 5 of their house cats and the dozens of neighborhood cats that she has cared for throughout the years. Lynn is our “crazy cat lady” and has even taken random stray cats to the vet on her own dime.

 

She has always had an open house policy for anyone in need, anyone who just wants to come hang out, all of her friends and family, her coworkers, the neighbors, and ALLLLLL of her kids friends no matter how old they get. She always volunteers to lend a helping hand, an ear to listen & give advice, or whatever she has to offer that you are in need of. Everyone is welcome and everyone will leave with a full tummy and some hair product.

 

If you know Lynn from her role as the Manager of Salon Centric Modesto, then you’ve been lucky enough to be embraced in her positive & helpful energy when you walk in her store. She truly loves her customers who have become friends over the years- So much so that she personally delivered product to her customers during the pandemic after work (on her own dime gas + time wise). Something she loves doing is making baskets of hair product to donate to local causes and helping organize fundraisers.

 

What we know so far: Lynn has Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes.

 

She will be needing a double mastectomy, radiation, and aggressive chemo for 6-8 months. It will be a long 2 year battle and she needs all of the support we can give. Lynn has been lucky enough to be accepted for treatment at Stanford Medical Center-Her first of many wins throughout treatment!

 

While being treated at Stanford is a major win & blessing- It also comes with a huge extra financial burden. The treatment center where she will have all of her medical team appointments, treatments, and surgeries is a 2 hour drive (without Bay Area traffic). On top of gas, most of these trips will need to include hotel stays, eating out for both her & Joe, and other unforeseen frequent travel costs.

 

Lynn will be out of work for the duration of her treatment, and her husband Joe will be taking more time off than ever before to become her full-time caregiver. They will be losing all of Lynn’s income, as well as a majority of Joe’s income as he drives her to and from treatments, surgeries, and appointments.

 

Insurance will cover a fraction of her treatment, but the bills are already stacking up. This is stress that Lynn & Joe don’t need while she focusing on fighting this. Just to shed some light on the unimaginable financial burden of an aggressive treatment- The out-of-pocket cost for just one of her MRI scans totaled $908 AFTER insurance paid what was considered their portion. That’s just one item.

 

Anything truly helps- Whether that is $1 or $100. Amazing things can happen when friends, family, and the internet combine their forces to help lift someone up in a time of need. We are all so thankful for everyone who contributes to helping Lynn along the toughest journey of her life and she appreciates every ounce of support she’s already been given and continues to receive as things progress.
