Pennies for prevention in honor of Amy Kelley

SAVE is the leading national suicide prevention organization working to prevent suicide through public awareness and education. September is national suicide prevention month, which is a very important month that I want to make sure awareness is spread. Suicide is unfortntualy something that occurred in my family and even my own life. On August 14, 2014, I lost my lovely mother Amy Kelley to the silent killer of suicide. I was eight years old when my family and I went to the beach for our yearly family vacation. My older sister, who was 12 at the time went back to the beach house to find that my mother had lost her battle against the pain that was inside her. I always saw my mom smiling and caring for everyone around her. I always saw how she could light up a room and make a difference in her life. That's the thing, people can put on an act so well you will never know the true deep shuddering feelings their minds possess. So let's educate the public on the warning signs of suicide to help our community stay safe.
