Help My Dad Fight Melanoma (Skin Cancer)

My Dad (Patrick Brooks) decided to go to the doctor because he was concerned about the unusual discoloration in his right hand (dominate hand) and the fact that it wasn't progressing in a positive way.  After the first visit, the doctors felt that it was necessary to move forward and test pieces of his skin for cancer.  A few weeks later, he received the results of his test and my Dad was diagnosed with Melanoma.  Melanoma is an aggressive skin cancer that can spread rapidly to other organs if not treated sooner.  He has to undergo a second surgery in which they would have to go deeper into his skin to remove the cancer from spreading throughout his body.  Unfortunately, he can't do that particular surgery until his hand is completely healed from the first surgery.  Once that surgery is complete, he will then be provided with his recovery options that may include chemotherapy/radiation. 

My Dad has been out of work since mid September.  His job only allowed him 60/40 of his benefits.   As of last week, his benefits ended and he isn't receiving an income from his job.  He is the sole provider of his household due to the fact that my Mom has been out of work for some time now because of her disabilities.  

If you know my Dad, he is a hands on guy.  If he's not playing the drums at church, detailing cars, and doing his day to day manual labor at his job that he's been at for 10+ years you would know how devastating this new normal is for him.  He even tried to apply to other jobs for the time being but unfortunately, he has to use both hands.  

Your gracious donations will help out my Dad with his medical expenses, maintain his transportation responsibilities (car insurance & car note), keep groceries in the house, utility bills, and rent until he is able to get back on his feet.  

When he married my Mom in 2000, he has taken care of my brother and I.  He also has been a father figure to my cousins as well.  He is a loving Grandfather to my 2 daughters and my niece and nephew.   My Dad will be 44 years old in December and we have a whole lot of growing to do together.  The thought of him going through something so detrimental hurts me but we're going to keep the faith and hold on to God's unchanging hand!  I know that God is going to bring him through this.   My Dad takes care of everyone and now it's time for us to take care of him. Unfortunately it’s hard for me to take on his finances on my own, so I would need some help.  

Donations are very much needed and appreciated but constant prayer is what will help him survive this unforeseen circumstance.
