Who wants to help an ugly black cat

Dante is a stray male un-neutered tom cat that wandered into our yard a couple of weeks ago. He is not the most handsome cat, missing fur, and pretty beat up, he's an adult male. He's pretty much a lost cause. Who would want to help a cat like this. He looks tough and mean and he was covered in burrs and matted fur, but he's acutally a suprisingly sweet cat with a very friendly disposition.
Right away we could tell that he wasn't well. He shakes his head constantly and his right ear is a bit askew. The first time I got close enough to him to give him a good look over, I could see the inside of his ear looked like hamburger. There is a good bit of puss and fluid coming out of his ear and it looked like he needed immediate help so we took him to a local vet.
It turns out that Dante has a fairly big tumor in his ear canal. It clearly is causing him discomfort, and as far as we can tell, he can't help but scratch at it which lead to a nasty ear infection. At the doctors recommendation we put him on antibiotics and tried to clean and treat his ear but it's been two weeks now and although we had a couple of days early on where it dried up and improved slightly, it's clearly getting worse now.
According to our regular vet, removing an inner ear cyst can be costly. Upwards of $1000.00 just for the surgery, and he'll need some tests and follow up treatment that we just can not afford to give him. Left untreated, I think Dante's infection will become critical in a short amount of time.
I realize that he's the most unlikely candidate for charity. Ugly, stray cat that has very limited hope for survival even if he is healthy, but in his current state, he will not make it.
After cleaning out his ear I also discovered that the entire side of his neck had become half matted half scab from all the fluid comming out of his ear. It took me almost a half hour cutting very carefully close to his skin to remove it. Dante sat still and was so good, even my best indoor cats won't sit still like this little guy. I want to help him. Please consider helping this poor ugly homeless lost cause of a cat. He deserves love too.
