Hi Friends & Family,
We have been on a roller coaster ride this past year. I know a lot of you have had your challenges as well. Jill has had several surgical complications with the “Simple” hand surgeries in August and September. She ended up having an allergic reaction to the IV antibiotics. The first not as severe as the second. She was non responsive and a team of 8 doctors and nurses worked on her for hours. They finally allowed her to go home. The following day she had chest pains and shortness of breath. She went to the Rex urgent care close to our house with chest pains, nausea, and shortness of breath and BP of 191/141. Quickly they realized the situation was more than they could handle. They transported her via ambulance to Wake Med Cary. She was in the hospital for cardiac arrest and a possible blood clot. Jill was in the hospital for 2 days and had multiple tests. They are sending her to see a cardiologist to check for permanent damage to her heart. There was a bone scan with nuclear IV medicine test to check for infection in the bone in her hip replacement. Jill has restored use in both of her hands, needless to say she is in constant pain with her back. She struggles to do what she can but is extremely limited. We try to live our lives as close to normal as possible. With that said, after she does, she spends the next several days in terrible pain. Not good at all as she uses more pain meds.
I finally convinced Jill to get on Facebook and she seems to be enjoying it. It has helped her feel connected to the outside world. Look her up.
Jill has been denied disability twice so far. Currently she is appealing the decision. This is so financially and emotionally devastating to us both. Honestly I don’t understand what more she needs to go through before they approve her. I’m sure you all know she had her hip replaced, neck, back and hand surgery. It is ridiculous!
Continue to pray for us.
Susan
UPDATE
Thank you for all your support.
We just returned home from Jill's appointment with Dr. Musante. He is the surgeon that did her back and neck surgery. He indicated that after further review of her MRI's that the screws in her back are adequate. She does however have 2 more herniated discs in her neck. She is not a candidate for surgery at this time due to other symptoms. She has been referred to a neurologist for a nerve conduction test in both arms. Along with a battery of other test to try to figure out why she is having such terrible headaches and nausea.
Thank you for your support and most of all your prayers.

Hello as most of you already know I had major back surgery on Oct 28, 2015 after a long summer of extreme pain. At the end of September it became painfully clear that I was no longer able to fulfill my duties as a Vet tech at Parkway Animal Hospital in Cary, NC. My last day of work was on October 2, 2015. The next few weeks waiting for my surgery were excruciating.
Immediately after the surgery I was in terrible pain. I spent 2 days in the hospital. I was relieved to finally return home and to see Little Winslow. Susan worked from home most of November to take care of me. I spent the next 2 week stuck on the 2nd floor of our house because it was too painful to go down the stairs. She helped me do everything. I am so lucky. Little Winslow was by my side every minute. He is such a sweet little boy. I have been having a lot of headaches and numbness in my hands and legs. This has me extremely concerned.
I thought I was doing a little better until I went for my check-up appointment on January 11, 2016.
The surgeon ordered an x-ray and saw that it appeared my body is rejecting the screws. He scheduled an MRI for January 22nd in Apex. Then the ice/snow storm came, so it was rescheduled for January 27th in Durham, After he reviews the results he will decide if they need to immediately go in and remove the screws and use longer rods and screw it into another vertebrae, repeat another neck surgery or both, or wait another month.
Then on Tuesday evening I fainted in the bathroom while brushing my teeth, I for an unknown reason hit my head on the linen closet doorknob. I have a huge knot on my head. (softball size) I went to the doctor and he confirmed that I have a concussion which it causing difficultly talking normally (stuttering a lot).
The doctors are informing me I will never be able to work again. This is killing me. I love working with animals. I am trying it get disability but it is a long process. I would appreciate any assistance to help with continued medications, hospital and monthly bills until then. I would appreciate any amount you could possibly assist me with, no denomination is ever too small. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Jill
