Support for Ben's cancer recovery
Donation protected
My name is Ben, I am in my early thirties, and in early March I found out that I have cancer.
In mid-February after feeling sick for several weeks I went to the doctor and was treated for bilateral pneumonia. After successfully completing the treatment my symptoms weren't improving, they were getting worse. On the morning of February 22nd I woke up with the most alarming symptom yet, hemoptysis (coughing up blood). Scared, I went back to the doctor, and finally landed in the ER where they did a CT scan with contrast and identified a large mass in my trachea that was partially blocking my airway.
I was transferred to a hospital in Minneapolis where I spent several days being treated by a fantastic team of doctors and nurses.
From February 22nd until March 8th I was in and out of the hospital and doctors offices as they attempted to diagnose the mass - it took two surgeries to successfully biopsy it due to it's location and bleeding risk.
The afternoon of March 8th the results of the second biopsy revealed that I have cancer in my trachea.
Cancer recovery is a long journey, and a very expensive one at that. While I have insurance through my employer, the medical bills are already piling up, and I have had to take several weeks off work, with additional time off needed for future treatments.
I am creating this GoFundMe to ensure that current and future medical bills are covered, and to provide a financial stopgap for any unpaid time that I have to take while undergoing treatment.
