Hit & run victim Joseph Huse fighting for his life

Donation protected

Joseph Huse remains in the hospital fighting for his life after being the victim of a hit and run.

On Wednesday, August 14th, 2019 around 8:00 P.m. Joseph was crossing the street in the crosswalk on 160th & Liberty Avenue in Jamaica, Queens NY where he was struck by a car that was speeding doing 37 MPH and the person who hit him kept driving with him on the car until Joseph fell onto the ground. The driver fled the scene.

Joseph suffered multiple fractures to his body including his pelvis, femur, tibia, ankle and his skull.

Of all of his injuries, due to the impact of Joseph going through the windshield and then falling off of the car and hitting the ground where he landed on his head, the doctor's are informing us that he has severe brain damage or what's referred to as "Diffuse Axonal Injury".

The neurologist say that the amount of trauma Joseph has suffered to his brain has damaged the frontal lobe.

The frontal lobe is the part of the brain that controls important cognitive skills, such as emotional expression, problem solving, memory, language, judgment, and sexual behaviors. It is, in essence, the “control panel” of our personality and our ability to communicate.

Because Joseph suffered impact to this part of the brain, the Doctor says that the chances of him being like we remember him are very very low and he will need 24 hour care.

He has been in a coma for 10 days and he did not wake up yet.

Joseph has been on a ventilator where he is partially breathing on his own but the doctor's don't want to risk an infection or for him to build up with fluid in his lungs so they are asking his family to make a decision.

The options are not an easy choice for the family of Joseph.

-Have the hospital do a tracheotomy and put a feeding tube in his stomach to give him time to improve and hopefully regain consciousness.

Or

-Put him in Hospice and remove all of the machines and pray he continues breathing on his own/ regains consciousness or allow him to have a peaceful death on his own and let nature take it's course.

Joseph turned 50 years old in May.

He has a 15 year old son.

Joseph did not deserve this! He has a good heart and a gentle soul.

I am setting this fund up for the unfortunate circumstances and tragedy for Joseph Huse or for his family to pay for any medical or funeral expenses in the worst case scenario that he doesn't pull through.

If Joseph survives this he will have a very long road to recovery.

Any donation can help!

I would please ask if with every donation you can say a prayer for a miracle for Joseph!

He is a fighter by nature and has always beat the odds!

The incident was reported on several news stations.

Detectives are still working on the case to hopefully bring justice for Joseph! The driver is not in custody yet for this horrible crime.
Please also pray for Justice!

Luckily the accident happened in an area where it is heavily surveillanced with cameras.

The Huse family appreciates your love and support during this tragedy.

As he would always say,
He has the power!

We're all praying he will wake up!
We're rooting for you, Joey!
