Please help me with Carley's cancer expenses

Hi everyone, my name is Monika, and I am sharing my story about my sweet fur baby girl, Carley. Early in November she was diagnosed with a Mast Cell tumor under her left eye. These tumors can appear suddenly and grow very quickly. She was seen by Meadow Vista Veterinary who referred me to an ophthalmologist at the Animal Eye Clinic in Rocklin for a biopsy. Then to UC Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital Oncology, for surgery. I was given two choices:

1. Remove the tumor and reconstruct her bottom eyelid with a small chance the cancer would return.

2. Remove her entire left eye better ensuring the cancer would not reoccur

Given Carley’s age, she is 9 years old, I chose option #1 to give her the best quality of life I can, increase the chances we will have more time together but not put her through the more extreme trauma of removing her eye.

The expenses are far more than I expected. Between the surgery, biopsy, x-rays, appointments, and prescriptions, the cost is racking up. I am at $8,000 so far. I would like to re-coop some of these charges. Carley will need follow up care, including medications for the rest of her life so there are more expenses to come. This is more than I can afford but Carley is part of my family so if there was even a small chance to extend her life, ensure she is pain free and has a good quality of life, I had to do it! I know other dog and animal lovers totally know where I’m coming from when I make that statement.

I am recently retired and on a fixed income. I am also a recent cancer survivor. Stage 4 lung cancer, and she was there by my side the entire time. Any donations you can make to help Carley’s cancer fight are greatly appreciated.
