Support for Jody and Albert

There are no words to truly describe Jody Fox's tenacity and drive to do good for others. I'm guessing many who will read this have experienced first hand Jody's snark, tenderness, generosity and compassion. She offers this all so willingly to each of her friends, co-workers, loved ones and let's not forget a few friendly neighborhood squirrels. Countless conversations and miscellaneous gifts left on doorsteps are just a few of the kind gestures Jody has offered to so many over the years.

 

Jody has been warring with cancer for some time. She works tirelessly to provide for her family by working two jobs; both at Iowa State and also by picking up countless hours at Mainstream Living every week. She also serves as a guardian to one of Mainstream's very long term members. She attends treatment and an array of medical appointments, checks in with her friends and family and raises an amazing son, Albert, with her partner and Albert's father, Emmett.

 

Emmett passed away on Thursday, November 11th, 2021.

 

Emmett's passing would be heartbreaking in any situation. Emmett's sudden passing will create an even heavier load for Jody to bear. As she processes losing her partner and Albert's father, she will now need to carry on by supporting their son, their home and herself.

 

We all ask what we can do for Jody in our posts of encouragement and care. What we can do without Jody asking anything directly of any of us is to give her the gift of time and decreased stress as she navigates this next path of her life. By giving a financial gift to Jody, we can help to provide her with more time to spend with Albert and more time to focus on her own health and well-being (in hopes that she would not need to work as much). Jody and her family have lost Emmett and what he did to support their family financially (amongst other great things of course). This also creates a new difficulty that Jody and Albert should not need to bear at this time. Jody and Emmett's family will also have costs associated with Emmett's passing and final arrangements.
