The Daily Bread Charity Kitchen
Donation protected
Hi there,
My name is Kehinde Bali, and I have recently started the Daily Bread Christian Charity! We aim to provide the basic human needs of food, shelter and clothing to the homeless and underprivileged in our communities. Our heart cry is for those we support to one day become open to receiving the Love and Salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The project
We are fundraising to kickstart our first project, which focuses on food - The Daily Bread Charity Kitchen. This project will provide hot, healthy and comforting meals freshly prepared and served with love to the homeless and vulnerable in our communities on a fortnightly basis ( with future aims to make this daily). This project will be ongoing, and we aim to start in March 2022!
Supporting this project will help feed some of the most vulnerable in our communities and allow us to make meaningful connections with them that will hopefully lead to a substantial overall improvement in their lives. A hot meal served with love is something that many of us take for granted, but for some, it is far from their reality. We believe it could be the first step to fully integrating some of the most vulnerable back into society.
How will it work?
Initially, the plan was to cook these meals myself in my mother's kitchen; we quickly realised this would be an impossible task - Preparing 100+ meals a fortnight from a small domestic kitchen is impractical and unsafe!
The team and registered volunteers will prepare the food early on the morning of service. A team member will then transport the meals to the day's location, where we will set up and serve the homeless passersby and those in need in the local area. We will station ourselves in busy areas in the borough of Greenwich with high levels of homelessness. Nothing will go to waste! Any food spare will be packaged and distributed to those in need at other locations in the local area.
How will the donated funds be used?
- Rent a Commercial Kitchen on a pay as you go basis (Space found in South London for hourly rates ranging from £33 to £50).
- Purchase the food that the in-house team will cook (currently building relationships with vendors that could provide free food in the future).
- Purchase equipment needed for on-street catering (chaffing dishes, foldable tables, market stall covers, recyclable cutlery and containers).
- Administration costs (Public liability insurances and safety certifications).
Since finding Christ, I have personally felt led to help the homeless wherever I could. Now I believe it is time to do this on a larger scale. The impact of Jesus' love has changed my life in so many ways; I am eternally grateful and will endeavour to serve those in need of his liberating peace, love and joy.
God Bless You All,
Kehinde Bali
