Hello My Name Is Chandra Thompson. I come to you asking for assistance with my corneal transplant. I am trying to raise 2000 whichnis my deductible to have the procedure done before my insurance company their part for the surgery. Three years ago I was diagnosed with the eye disease Keratoconus. Keratoconusis a progressive eye disease that affects the cornea of the eye. It causes the cornea to become mishaped from its normal round shape to a domed shape it causes light to deflect as it enters the eye on its way to the retina and makes your vision distorted. I have this condition in both eyes. It is worst in my left eye which needs surgery. My condition was being treated by wearing hard contacts that helped my corneas be the shape they need to be to function properly. Glasses did not help as my corneas was still misshaped. All was going well with the hard contacts until my left eyee got agressively worse. After visiting my eye doctor in November he referred me to a cornea specialist and told me to immediately stop wearing the contact in my left eye. I couldnt see this specialist until a month later. So I pretty much was limited to sight only in my right eye until I saw the doctor in December. At that time she told me the keratoconus was so advanced that the hard contact was not gonn help me see and I was really legally blind in my left eye .she also told me the only option to fix this was a corneal tranplant. I was disheartend with the news! But I pretty much knew this would be the outcome because my sight was pretty bad in this eye. So I acceoted it and made plans to schedule surgery. And I did one week later. I was all geared up for the surgery until I received the letter stating I must pay a 2000 deductible before my insurance would pay 100% for the procedure. What a kick to the gut! I didnt have 2000 dollars nor did I see 2000 coming available to me anytime soon I'm pretty much living paycheck to paycheck LITERALLY. I was like what am I gonna do? I have been working for over two months with very limited vision. I dont have too many problems with my day to day living while Im at home, but I do monogramming which is detailed work and very hard to do with my vision not being 100%. I also can not drive as much as I used to( I can drive during the day but not far distances night driving is impossible). And Im worried because even though I have been using my right eye which is also affected by Keratoconus I also have macular degeneration in my right eye and Im afraid Im putting too much strain on my right eye and the macular degeneration will get worse in my right eye. The surgery is scheduled for February and Im hoping with my outcry for help I can get it done if not I will have to reschedule hopefuuly not too far from February. I know Im asking for help close to the date of surgery but Im at my wits end trying to figure a way to get surgery and I hope that I can receive help to reach my goal of 2000 dollars. By doing this you will help me to continue to work and have a better quality of life by restoring the sight in my eye. Thanks in advance any and all donations will be appreciated.
