Help Randy Recover!

Hi Everyone,

I am Emily, Randy's eldest daughter. I have started this fundraiser to help my dad with his recovery from Salmonella food poisoning that sent his already existing Ulcerative Colitis into massive flare. He will use these funds to help pay for dad to day expenses and physical therapy while he recovers.

You may or may not be aware that my dad (Randy Schultz) has been battling ulcerative colitis for several years. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease characterized by inflammation and ulcers on the inner lining of the large intestine due to abnormal immune system reactions.

During flare-ups, the absorption of nutrients becomes challenging. Unfortunately, in January, my dad experienced a severe flare-up compounded by a Salmonella food poisoning.

This led to a significant decline in his health, resulting in him spending the past week and a half at Shuswap Lake General Hospital. He was discharged this past Monday and is now back home.

The ordeal has caused him to lose a considerable amount of weight and muscle tissue. As a carpenter, he is unable to return to work for the foreseeable future.

Now, he needs time to recover, both physically and mentally. Physical therapy will be a big part of it, along with just giving him the space and support he needs to get back on his feet.

I reaching out to the community to support my dad during his recovery journey. Any donation, big or small, would mean the world to us and would help him get back to doing what he loves: cooking, cracking jokes, spending time with family, and sharing his passion for food.
