Hello to all, my name is Gary Thompson , I'm living in Tennessee going on 9 years now and have been a Paramedic the last 5 with Robertson county, really miss work by the way, my story begins 12/5/13 when i was injured on the job ruptureing a disc in my neck putting me as injured on duty and requiring physical therapy and surgery before returning to work, while I was out my ear nose and throat doctor wanted to repair a deviated septum in my sinus that i had dealt with the previous month, septum surgery was scheduled and performed 2/5/14 and at this time the surgeon found that my septum was gone and had been destroyed by a tumor in my upper sinus, i was refered to a specialist at Vanderbilt Medical Center (amazing facility and staff) and the journey begins, they removed my upper sinus and used a biece of my skull to remake my maxillary plate (10 days hospital) removed tumor, 2 weeks later staff infection on my brain ( 7 days in hospital) with at home antibiotics for 6 weeks along with 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation only to find the cancer had moved to my brain with tumor size being 43 mm across, at this time the Doctors (who are amazing God believing people) had to label me as terminol non operative which scared me terribly for my families futureand what was to come, the cancer and sickness is bad enough but the loss of hope and fear of what is to come is tougher on me than anything! Thank the Good Lord above for my Doctors because they don't give up and the can't find an expiration date on me anywhere, the journey continues, they sign me up for a clinical trial with experiental medication and work hard on restoring my hope and Faith, been on the medicsations 6 weeks now ( some rough days) and we are coming up on rescan date of april 6 and praying for positive results of a shrinking tumor, Faith over Fear! some close friend from church came up with this saying and though its tough it is the Truth, my walk with God has been a long and crooked path ( my fault ) I'm still walking with him and learning to put Faith over Fear every day! (thanks Pam for the shirt and saying) My life is in God's hands and i have faith that his will is my path to travel down, I only hope to be a blessing as much as I have been blessed along the way.
