Malakai’s Top Surgery

My name is Malakai and I'm a 22 yr old transmasc and my dysphoria has been getting increasingly worse. So my original plan was to try and get top surgery some time during either the summer or the winter of 2021. My parents were supposed to be helping me and I was supposed to get a job this year and do nothing but save. Because of the corona virus I haven't been able to get a job and most of the events my dad does for money have been cancelled (My dad is a self employed vendor). My mom still works because she is a nurse but she has been struggling financially as well. I have looked at many surgeons and I am now trying to go with Dr. Sherie in North Carolina. My original choice was Dr. Garramone in Florida but due to my dysphoria becoming unbearable, I’ve decided to go with a somewhat cheaper option. This way I don’t really have to worry about travel cost. My new goal is to try and raise the money by either the summer or winter of 2022.  

(Update) I have a job but they cut my hours in half and I’m still going to school full time. Most of my money has gone towards school related items (ie: transfer applications, transcripts, books, etc) Any donation is greatly appreciated!

(Update 4/14/23) It is 2023 and I am scheduled for surgery 6/29/2023 (4 days after my birthday) with Dr. Bluebond-Langner in New York. She does take insurance which is great! But I will have to stay in New York for a month after surgery while also still paying for housing back home as well as traveling expenses to get to and from the hospital. Because of this, I will be leaving this gofundme open until I return home. I can’t believe we’ve come this far! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated!
