My Dads Heart Surgery

Donation protected
Hello everyone,
My name is Melissa Oz and here is my story, well…my fathers story…

I’m 20, a first gen american, with a younger brother, my mother and my father. That’s all the family I have here. My father’s name is Isa Oz. He is from Turkey. My father went from coming into this country in his early 20s, not knowing not a lick of english, to becoming an entrepreneur. Trying to live the true American Dream.

It frustrates me tremendously, because my father is not some measly lazy immigrant. I am proud of my father, as an American myself. He is paying for my college tuition, running his business, and is the only source of income in my household. He is a true American in my eyes and has done much more than many born here Americans I know. Additionally, he is even raising successful American children as well. I am a Chemistry Major that has done some impressive research at Brookhaven National Lab, and my little brother wants to become a lawyer. Yet again, this concept of the American Dream will be continued by me and my brother. It is so painful to see the country he loves and is happy to be in, isn’t helping him. It is even more painful to know that there are some undeserving immigrants receiving government aid and living off of my fathers hard earned work taxes.

This week, one day, he was telling me about chest pain and jaw pain. Immediately, I knew what was going on. I quickly crushed up asprin, put it in a glass of water and gave it to him. He got a bit better but I felt it in my gut to take him to Stony Brook Hospital. We then find out he has suffered a heart attack and what I did with the asprin quite literally saved his life. He is still currently in the hospital. The doctors have said that he has 3 blockages in 3 of his main arteries. The blockages are closing them by 95%. So a bypass open heart surgery is necessary in order for him to keep living a healthy life. This surgery is a hefty hefty cost which is why I am starting this gofundme. Surgery is going to happen on Monday (03/13/23) and he has been in the hospital since Tuesday (03/07/23) and is said to stay until Friday (03/17/23). This hospital bill in total is going to be tremendous. It is so worrying.

The news was so detrimental to me because in my eyes, my dad is my hero. God has blessed me with an amazing father. He himself is the most giving hospitable person I know. Always going above and beyond for his friends and family. He is also the most intelligent man I know. He taught me everything I know about computer parts and physics. Of course he is not perfect but that is the beauty of being the child to any parent. You learn how to figure out each other in unison. He is my iron man. I’ve always been a daddy’s girl and going through this just flipped my world upside down. He never gets sick, he hasn’t even gotten covid once and is unvaccinated. I see him as the strongest man I know. Not only does he mean so tremendously much to me but he is the only person keeping my family’s lives going. He is the reason why I have the life that I have, he is the reason why I am pursuing chemistry in school, he is the reason why I have had so many opportunities for success. My father and my mother have raised two very intelligent children.

So i’m just asking for help. Truly and honestly we have never asked for help ever in our lives whether it be regarding my mom, myself, or my brother. But this is so serious for my family and if any of you can find it in your heart to help, it would mean the absolute world to me and my family.

Thank you and God bless. I wish no one this experience, it truly is life changing and shows the true power of God and how he makes you realize that you shouldn’t take things for granted ever. Please tell your loved ones that you love them. Hug them, kiss them, love them, before it’s too late. Life is so unpredictable, but don’t ever think it’s too late to fix a broken bond.
