Changing the Face of Animal Control
Donation protected
True Companion Animal Rescue, a 501c3 non profit, wants to change the the face of Animal Control in Southwestern, PA. We plan to do this by taking over the operation of Ferree Kennels.
We will be sworn in as Dog Law Enforcement Agents (Animal Control) in the boroughs where Ferree is currently contracted. This change should be happening by April 1, 2016.
We plan to operate half of the building for Animal Control Dogs, while the other part of building will operate as True Companion Animal Rescue. This was decided to help save more homeless animals. With half of the building being used as True Companion, any unclaimed dog from Animal Control can simply be transferred and adopted out through the rescue group.
This is a very important step not only for us and True Companion, but for the community. We want to change the bad reputation for local animal control officers and take a step in a positive direction for homeless animals.
We need your help to raise money for the down payment along with any start up costs (dog/cat food and other supplies, building updates, beginning utilities, etc). We want to raise at least $20,000 in order to feel comfortable and to give us a little bit of "wiggle room".
Please NO negative comments toward Ken Ferree or his family. He is only looking to sell the business in order to move on to different opportunities. Ken and his family have been extremely helpful with us and will be assisting us through this transition period.
In the event that this purchase does not take place, all funds raised will go toward True Companion, their mission in helping homeless animals, and in purchasing a different shelter facility.
More details will be posted in the future. Thank you for your ongoing support of True Companion and helping us help the animals.
Donations can also be made via PayPal to [email redacted] or via mail to True Companion, PO Box 144, East McKeesport, PA 15035.
