Help the Pike Family
Hi there. My name is Alana and I am fundraising to help out the most wonderful family in their time of need. Taj Pike is an amazing young man who's strength of character and maturity goes well beyond his 16yrs. Taj is a youth volunteer at his local Scout Troop, giving up his time every Wednesday night to help and he recently completed the Kokoda Challenge, walking a gruelling 96km to raise money for charity and help others.
But now Taj and his family need our help! On the 19th August, the Pike family received the devastating news that Taj had Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. In his mother Rachel's words: Everything has happened so quickly, as he has gone from a very fit and active, Kokoda walking machine to feeling like, well 'just crap', but as always Taj plods on with a big smile on his face, telling the doctors all his corny jokes and being a regular gentleman.
Taj is currently in Brisbane receiving chemotherapy, with his mum by his side. Unfortunately, this means that mum is not able to work, which has reduced the family to a single income for a while and alterations need to be made to Taj's room to make it safe and sanitised for his return home. Which means deep cleaning carpets, new mattresses and a mounting list of expenses.
With your help, I would like to try to raise as much funds as possible to take the financial burden away from the family, so that they can focus on the most important thing of all - making sure Taj gets well and back to his normal "corny jokes" self.
