Melissa's Journey

A few weeks ago our friend and co-worker Melissa started feeling sick. Like any strong woman she went on with her daily routine as a mother of two, educator, and significant other to her husband. However, after a doctors visit and follow up tests, things just didn't seem right. Even after antibiotics she felt weak, tired, and continued to look very pale.

Last Friday while going to have blood drawn she passsed out. She was admitted to the hospital where she was given 3 blood transfusions. After many tests it was determined that she had Acute Leukemia. With this presumption she will be transferred to a hospital where they specialize in this type of treatment.

As she recieves her care over the next few months, she will be unable to work because of a weakened immune system. It is important for us to know that she need not worry about the financial burden this will leave so that she can focus on her recovery and go back to being a wife, mother, and teacher.
