Rally for Rudi!!
Donation protected
My nephew Rudi was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive grade 4 brain tumour (pineoblastoma) right in the very centre of his brain in August 2020.
Since then he has undergone gruelling treatment - extensive and extremely complex brain surgeries, travelling to Germany for 6 weeks of proton therapy and then 4 months of extremely intensive chemotherapy here at Edinburgh Sick Kids.
His chemo finished in April 2021 and he has been gradually recovering from the horrendous side effects of the 10 months of treatment and bravely battling back to some sort of normality - recently getting back to attending school and at long last interacting with his friends again.
Cruelly, just as he has been really starting to feel like his amazing, funny self (well he was always funny, even in the depths of his treatment!), February’s MRI showed that some tumours have returned!!
This devastating news was compounded when we were informed that there are now very limited options available to Rudi, and what the NHS can provide has unfortunately reached it’s limit..
Rudi is now recovering at home from his latest brain surgery, the purpose of which was to take a biopsy.
We are very hopeful that this biopsy may confirm there is the possibility of some trial treatments he may be eligible for which offer the chance to slow down/stop the progress of his cancer.
We are now in the process of looking into these options - but financially it is going to be a challenge!
We are hoping to raise money to support Rudi and his family in the next steps of his fight against this horrendous disease!
We’re also looking for donations of KNOWLEDGE:
for example how to ‘pay up front’ for US Health Insurance - essentially for an arrangement to be made for cash to be used up front allowing access to a trial stipulating patients must have US based Health Insurance.
This issue has arisen once already and could prove a crucial hurdle to overcome..

We are grateful for any support that you are able to give and will update this page as we have more information/developments.
If you have an idea or challenge you would like to take on to raise money for Rudi please get in touch.
If any money raised is not required in Rudi’s battle we will donate the funds to the amazing and hugely underfunded Brain Tumour Charity.
Rudi is the BIGGEST Bob Marley fan and he won’t be giving up any fight ✊❤️
