Mental Health Matters

Turning negative energy into positive energy one mile at a time.
Over the last couple of years, the topic of mental health has been overshadowed by many other things. Many people suffer from mental health internally and don't feel like they have anyone to talk to about it and are lost when it comes to finding the appropriate resources. For this reason, I have chosen to support the local charity HeadsUpGuys (https://headsupguys.org/).
My first of many goals for 2023 is the David Goggins Challenge. This challenge consists of running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. As a competitive endurance athlete, I feel that this will ultimately be more of a mental battle for me rather than a physical one.
On a personal note, I have dealt with and suffered from depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts since I was a young child. I never had the tools to deal with these feelings. It wasn't until my mid 30's that I finally started opening up and realized I was not alone. I spoke to family, friends and a counsellor who all helped me in different ways.
