Our names are Asia Fasciano and Emma Falconi, we are fifth-grade students in Miami. After reading the story of Salva Dut in the book "A Long Walk To Water”, we learned about the devastating health crisis related to clean water in South Sudan. With a current population of approximately 13 million people, more than half of the population lacks access to clean water. Most families, including women and children, have to walk an average of 8 hours every day to have access to water, which sometimes isn’t even potable. This increases their risk of getting waterborne diseases such as parasites and diarrhea, which continuously threatens the life of the most vulnerable population, children and elderly. Currently, in South Sudan, 77% of children under the age of 5 die from diarrhea.
After learning about all these facts, we were so incredibly moved but at the same time motivated to raise awareness about South Sudan’s clean water crisis. We are raising funds to donate to "Water For South Sudan" made by Salva Dut to help the people from South Sudan get the clean water they deserve. All donations are going directly to “Water for Sudan Foundation”.
Your donations will help save the lives of many families in South Sudan.
